Protest - Event - Gay kiss demo for Pope's visit

Hundreds of gay people will kiss each other in front of the Pope when he visits Spain next month.
The demonstration, organised by Facebook group Queer Kissing Flashmob, is to protest against the Pope's alleged anti-gay views.
Gays will take to the streets when Benedict XVI leaves Barcelona Cathedral on his way to the famous Sagrada Familia church on November 7. The Pope caused controversy two years ago when he suggested that homosexuality was as dangerous as the destruction of the rainforest.
Event organiser Marylene Carole said: "When Benedict XVI passes in front of us, we will kiss, man with man or woman with woman."

Event - Cultural Protest To Take Place At Erie County Hall

BUFFALO, NY-- As workers at Erie County Hall leave for the day on Monday, they will be met by a group of protesters.

A flash mob protest will take place on the steps of County Hall on Monday, October 25 at 4pm.

Artists, technicians, designers, actors, musicians, administrators, and art supporters are all encouraged to attend the protest.

They will be protesting the recent funding cut to all cultural organizations, except the "Big Ten", announced in Erie County Executive Chris Collins' 2011 budget.

Event - Muskegon congregation plans 'flash mob,' cemetery tours for Halloween

MUSKEGON — The Harbor Unitarian Universalist Congregation (HUUC), 1296 Montgomery, is planning a "zombie flash mob" in downtown Muskegon on Sunday.


The mob will get organized (makeup, rehearsal) at the church at 3:30 p.m., and then there will be a zombie performance-art dance downtown at 5 p.m.

Tucson Zombie Walk - Event

For Zombie Walk 2010, registration will start at 3 p.m. Participants have to either contribute an item of non-perishable food or make a monetary donation in order to be part of the walk, and are encouraged to dress up like a dead version of an actor or a character from a movie, as the theme is "Film Fiends." At 4 p.m., the undead have the opportunity to dance in "Thrill the World," a worldwide event in which individuals lurch to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" all at the same time. Zwaduk recommends checking YouTube tutorials if you want to be a part of it but don't know the moves. "A lot of people enjoyed it last year and asked if we were going to do it again; ... everyone who danced last year knew it," said Zwaduk.

The walk itself will creep down Fourth Avenue and turn around at Fourth Street, with the Best in Show winner (as determined by the costume contest) leading. On the way back, the group limps downtown toward Access Tucson. The culmination will be a War of the Worlds-style takeover with actors in the studio, and the station will actually go off air.


The event itself has grown into something with a large following. Lopez and Zwaduk are most surprised by the number of kids who come to the event dressed to the hilt.

"One thing that I remember the first year—I was at the Rialto and I was almost afraid that people wouldn't show up," Lopez said. "The first people who showed up were this mom and her three kids, ranging in age from five to 15. For the walk, I carry around a squirt bottle full of fake blood, and she was like 'Spray my kids down!' It was just awesome seeing this mom bringing her kids and really getting into it."


Registration for the Tucson Zombie Walk 2010 starts at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress St. Admission is an item of non-perishable food or a donation to the Tucson Community Food Bank. For more information on the entire schedule of events, visit their website.

Planned Event - douglas county, Michigan

Anyone interested in learning the dance for the flash-mob “Thriller” routine, to be performed before the Oct. 30 adult Halloween parade in Douglas, is invited to join us at Saugatuck Brewing Co. Monday, Oct. 25, Tuesday, Oct. 26, and Friday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Please go to the Facebook site on the events schedule under Douglas Halloween Walking Parade for Adults so we all learn the same routine. If you learn as much as possible beforehand, we should be able to work as a group to perfect his dance. If you don’t have access to a computer, we’ll teach it to you on those nights.

I thank Ed Green for coming up with the dance idea as a unique start to the parade. This should be cool; everyone’s excited.
